Lesson 4: Notes Around Middle C

Welcome! In this lesson, we’ll focus on the A, B, C, D, and E notes surrounding Middle C – the most frequently used notes in this module. Mastery of these notes is key to progressing smoothly through our upcoming lessons.

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Get Your Guide: Download the Module One Workbook for visual assistance and additional tips.
(The downloadable Module One Workbook is available in the ‘Start Here‘ lesson, under the Materials tab.)
  2. Practice Makes Perfect: Watch the lesson video, refer to the PDF, and perform the exercises three times to reinforce your learning.

A Quick Note:
Don’t stress about which fingers to use just yet. Feel free to use your right index finger for all these notes. The main goal for now is very simple: recognize and locate the Middle C, and the A notes both above and below it. This is our starting point – understanding where we are on the keyboard.

Once you’re confident in identifying these notes and have practiced the exercise, you’ll be ready to move on to the next lesson. Enjoy the discovery!
