In this lesson, I’ll guide you on how to practice sight-reading exercises. Don’t worry about practicing these exercises presented in this video; the goal is to grasp the underlying logic of practicing sight-reading. Once you understand this, you’ll be able to apply these techniques to all other sight-reading exercises in our course.

Step 1: Playing Notes with Your Right Hand (0:08)
Let's start with your right hand. Play each note and say its name out loud.
Don't think about the rhythm yet. Just focus on finding and playing the right notes.
Step 2: Playing Notes with Your Left Hand (1:19)
Now, do the same with your left hand. Play each note and say its name.
Step 3: Adding Rhythm (1:57)
Next, we'll play slowly and count the beats out loud. This helps you understand the rhythm.
Step 4: Working on the Hard Part (3:05)
Find the part of the lesson that seems hard.
Practice just the first few notes of this part, four times in a row.
If you can do that well, add a little more and try again.
Step 5: Playing the Whole Thing (3:50)
Try to play the entire lesson from start to finish. Do it three times without any mistakes.
Step 6: Making It Sound Nice (4:49)
Now, let's make it sound beautiful.
Try to play softly, and make the ending quieter.
You can start quiet, then get a little louder, and then quiet again at the end.
If you want, you can also try using the pedal at the bottom (that's optional).
Step 7: Keeping Time (5:25)
Finally, practice with a beat. You can use a metronome (that's a tool that helps keep time) or a backing track if we have one.
This helps you play in time with the music.
And that's it! If you can do all these steps, you're ready for the next lesson. Just take your time and have fun with it!
