Expanding Jazz Voicings and Bebop Lines
Module 18 builds on our previous jazz studies, transitioning from simpler 3-note voicings to more complex 4-note rootless voicings. We’ll review all voicings learned so far, including shell voicings and rootless voicings in new inversions, to improve your voice leading and ensure your chords sound clear and resonant in the piano’s optimal range.
While the left hand works on these advanced voicings, the right hand will practice iconic bebop patterns, essential for mastering mainstream jazz improvisation.
By the end of this module, you’ll be proficient in comping for major ii-V-I progressions and integrating bebop lines into your improvisations, improving your jazz performances and deepening your understanding of jazz improvisation.
